Tumblrs, Mixes and a Chart

It's been a couple of months since my last update, I've been busy - but unfortunately not on the music side of things. I did put a new mix together last month - Drowned - which is now available to download. You might of seen this on my Musical Rant Tumblr blog, it's an alternative place for me to quickly and easily publish new mixes, there's an RSS feed you can subscribe to so you'll never miss a mix!
While on the subject of Tumblr, I have a second music themed blog on there - The Inflatable House. You might recognise the name, it was once a podcast and blog I shared with a friend of mine (we still publish mixes from time to time on our Facebook page). Anyway, the actual site is now a bit of a notice board for me to add tracks I'm digging at the moment.

A friend of mine on Twitter - @si - ran a website giving away 12 free house tracks from a number of high profile producers over the 12 days of Christmas. One a day. As a round up to the event I suggested putting a mix together of all the tracks included. The suggestion got switched around and I offered to put the mix together.
It was a nice challenge, mixing tracks different to the usual deep and tech house. The main difference was the amount of vocals. Warning, there are a local of vocals on this mix!
I've uploaded the mix to my SoundCloud account where you can listen to and download the mix.

Firstly, Happy New Year - hope everyone enjoyed the festive period. My usual round up of 2009 in the of 25 of my favourite tracks of the year is just over there - and it's going to be my last chart for a while, as I put all the self-promotion on the back burner and concentrate on other projects.
Charts and mixes will still be added to the website - just not as regularly as before.
December Chart

No news is good news? Maybe just neither good or bad in this case.
New chart for December and the last of the year, included are a couple of non-deep house tracks; Thom Yorke's brilliant new track - featured on the New Moon OST and an album track from Drum & Bass producer Logistics 'Repetition' as featured on 'Crash Bang Wallop' which I'm pretty addicted to at the moment.
Also, a couple of tracks from Floating Point who I've just discovered - there could of been more of their tracks featured, so they are well worth checking out.
Unused Guest Mix

I've just uploaded a short mix to my SoundCloud, this was originally produced for the Driversion Radio Show - but my Summer 2009 mix was used instead. This 40 minute mix is only available to stream and download via SoundCloud, so hop to it.

A few updates on the site this week, first up is a new chart for August - some really nice deep house and techy tracks this month. Really loving Roy Davis Jr's "Let It Ride", it's almost how progressive house used to sound with it's deep dubby strings and percussion.
I've also set up an RSS feed for my mixes, this is basically a podcast so you can subscribe to my mixes via iTunes or your default RSS reader, you can find out a little more info here.

Friday just gone saw my first gig at the newly reopened H2O in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire. I DJ'ed all night in the back room, playing a mix of deep and soulful house, and I'll be back this and every Friday after - so if you're in the neighbourhood and like your house deep then come and say hello.

Happy 1st of the month - a pinch and punch and all that jazz. I've just recently donated to the very good cause that is the Mongolian Mixtape Marathon. It's a drive from London to Mongolia and they want DJ mixes to listen to, they will also be podcasting all the mixes and the money raised will go to 'Save The Children'.

There's a new chart on the right - some really nice Deep House around at the moment, and lots of good music in general - that's the effect of the WMC for you.
There's also my first mix of the year available to download in the mixes section. It's called Deeper Moves and it features many of the tracks I've been charting over the last couple of months.

Firstly, a chance to wish all my visitors a very happy new year.
Now, for the news and updates - first up is my top 25 tracks of 2008 over on the right, it's been a great year for deep house with loads of tracks and remixes by Charles Webster and Manuel Tur, and cosmic disco's appearance on the dance floors with artists such as Peter Visti and Toby Tobias to name but two.

So my new mix has been on the site for a few days now and is getting some really positive feedback - which is nice.
It's a cool 80 minutes of deep techny cosmic disco with a little bit of hip hop, pop and house thrown in for a proper eclectic affair.

A belated Happy New Year to you, I've only just got around to posting up a January chart > in the usual place. It's been a bit of a slow start to the year music purchasing wise - so I've stuck a few golden oldies in there that I've been digging recently.

I've just added a few of my older mixes that I had lying around on my hard drive, the mixes are from mid 2002 to late 2003 when I used to play vinyl only and they were mixed in one hit onto a mini disc recorder. Those were the days!
